Residents residing on Chestnut Street and in Edgewood Drive, including other Kewanee neighborhoods are reviving a tradition that for many years was put to bed.
This Sunday, Dec. 8, with the lighting of Windmont and Northeast parks, residents in several neighborhoods will light up their sidewalks with luminaries at dusk.
Angie Cernovich, who lives on South Chestnut Street, said that the decision was made to revive the holiday illumination.
“This is a tradition from the past that we are bringing back to life and would like to share with the community,” she said in an email to The Kewanee Voice.
The luminaries’ locations will be included in The Kewanee Voice Drive of Lights map that is expected to be published on Saturday, Dec. 7.
