A Prophetstown man faces several drug charges after Kewanee police stopped his vehicle Wednesday evening.

John Gerstel, 42, of Prophetstown was arrested and jailed after the traffic stop in the 100 block of West McClure Street.

A police news release said detectives with the Kewanee Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit stopped and searched a vehicle. They found about 192 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms packaged in six resealable bags, about 13 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of a suspected drug called DMT and a small amount of suspected cannabis.

Gerstel was arrested and taken to the Kewanee Police Department, where he was booked and processed. He was subsequently transported to the Henry County Jail.

On Thursday, the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office filed four charges against Gerstel:

— Possession of a controlled substance

— Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver

— Possession of methamphetamine

— Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver
