Scout, a one‑year‑old beagle/hound mix with a striking tricolor coat, is taking center stage at the shelter this week.
Surrendered very recently, Scout has already made a lasting impression on staff. He enjoyed his first long walk last week, taking in all the sights and smells of the outdoors with our dog walker. His leash skills are impressive for a young dog who’s still a bit shy.
As he settles into shelter life, Scout is cautiously beginning to bond with staff members who are working to earn his trust. He loves treats and accepts them gently from your hand. Sudden loud noises can make him anxious, but a soft voice and a little treat‑based reassurance usually calm his nerves.
True to his beagle roots, Scout has a natural drive to roam and explore. He would likely thrive on a farm or in a home with a big yard where he can run freely and satisfy his curiosity. He’s a social, family‑friendly dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and loves being around children.

Scout has an upcoming appointment to be neutered, microchipped and receive his rabies vaccination. He has already been vaccinated for distemper/parvo and Bordetella and has been flea‑treated.
If you love the outdoors as much as Scout does and are looking for a sweet companion to share your adventures, stop by the shelter during visiting hours to meet this active little guy or call 309‑852‑0040. His adoption fee is $100.
