KEWANEE, Ill. — After several years away from the runway, the local chapter of P.E.O. is bringing back its fashion show fundraiser with a fresh theme: “Flutter into Spring.”

The event will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Zion Lutheran Church, at 250 East St. South, Kewanee. Fashions will be provided by Four Seasons of Geneseo and Princeton, with members of the chapter stepping into the spotlight as models. Tickets are available at Blooms by Heartfelt for $10.

“When considering a fundraiser, our P.E.O. chapter decided that a style show would be a way for attendees to enjoy a pleasant afternoon while supporting our projects—scholarships for women,” said Barbara Morrison, a member of the organization.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded in 1869, has awarded more than $435 million in scholarships to women pursuing education at local, national and international levels. Morrison said the chapter doesn’t set a specific fundraising goal, but every dollar raised will go toward those scholarship programs.

While not an annual tradition, the group has hosted several style shows over the years. Morrison said the event is as much about fellowship as fundraising.

“Whatever fundraiser we plan, we find that it offers us an opportunity to spend time with our sisters as we support our purpose—Motivate, Educate, Celebrate Women,” said Morrison.
