While the temperatures may be heating up, this weekend sees a definite cool down when it comes to events and activities.

This Saturday Kewanee High School athlete Chris Crowe will head to Eastern Illinois University to compete in the IHSA State meet. The KHS sophomore qualified for the state track finals in two events, the high jump and long jump. Good luck Chris!

This Sunday evening will be the start of the Levitt AMP Galva Music Series for the summer. This is the first of ten concerts that are scheduled to take place Sunday evenings through Aug. 9. Performing this weekend are rock and blues performers Jed Harrelson and Jon Hayes. The concert will take place in Wiley Park located at 301 NW 4th Ave in Galva from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The concerts are free and participants are asked to bring their own seating, a comfortable lawn chair or blanket.
