Baker Park’s 19th Hole restaurant is kicking off the fall and winter season with new hours, a new menu and a plan for holiday parties. Last month, the Kewanee Park District made the decision to keep the restaurant open all year round rather than closing for the off-season.

Kewanee Parks Executive Director Andrew Dwyer said the hours for the restaurant will be altered slightly as will the menu. Gone from the menu will be the summer side dishes of potato and macaroni salad, he said. Instead, the restaurant will serve up more winter fare and those cold items will be replaced with sides such as mashed potatoes and green beans.

Taco Tuesday will be sticking around and Sunday brunch will be offered. In addition, residents can check out the park district’s Facebook page to find some new Monday specials. Dwyer also said the restaurant staff is throwing around the idea of delivery specials over the colder months for customers who may not want to brave the weather.

Holiday parties will also be offered as soon as Thanksgiving is over, said Dwyer.

“We can start anytime after Thanksgiving,” he said. “We are still finalizing the details, which will come out on the first of November.”

The holiday party menu will have different selections but will come with a main course, several sides and desserts.

“A few things will be included in the pricing,” he said.

That’s another detail still being worked out. How the restaurant will price the event is still being looked at, but Dwyer said they are leaning towards making the space available at no charge but increasing the cost of the meals.

“We’ll get that finalized pretty quickly,” he said and the announcement should come soon.

The current hours of the restaurant are Monday and Tuesday, 7 am to 8 pm. On Wednesdays through Sundays, the hours are 7 am to 2 pm for the kitchen and 2 to 5 pm for golfers. Those hours will change to the winter hours on Nov. 5. The restaurant will then be open, Monday and Tuesday from 11 am-8 pm. Wednesday and Thursday, the restaurant will be closed and open Friday through Sunday from 7 am to 2 pm.
