Kewanee and other nearby towns on U.S. Route 34 will be part of the More on 34 yard sale event Friday and Saturday.
The route of More on 34 covers more than 100 miles of the highway.
Starting at Yorkville, the trail passes through Plano, Sandwich, Somonauk, Earlville, Mendota, LaMoille, Dover, Princeton, Wyanet, Sheffield, Neponset, Kewanee, Galva, Altona, Oneida, Wataga and Galesburg.
The idea of a Father’s Day weekend yard sale along the highway originated in Kewanee, and has grown into a “wonderful weekend event,” according to the event’s website.
Sellers make their own hours, but many open as early as 8 a.m. and stay open until 5 p.m. and beyond.
The two days of the sale offer bargain hunters a huge variety of opportunities to find treasures at low prices.
The sale is augmented by food stands along the way. In Kewanee, Phat Boys Barbecue and Top That will be open starting at 11 a.m. in the Community State Bank parking lot on Tenney Street. Pasquale’s Pizzeria will offer pizza by the slice at lunch time, and vendors will set up in the parking lot.
As the More on 34 website says, “There is a treasure around every corner” during More on 34.
