The Kewanee Elks #724 announced the January “Teens of the Month.” Chosen for the honor were Addison Moore and Karson Shrum.

Addison is the daughter of Dan and Tina Moore. A senior at Galva High School, her GPA is 4.0/4.0 scale with a class rank of 1 of 34. Four-year achievements are High Honor Roll, All-Conference Academic volleyball, track, FFA, student council. Three-year achievements include National Honor Society, cheerleading and Drama Club, with two-year achievements in most blocks in volleyball.

One-year achievements are as FFA state delegate, class president, vice-president, treasurer, student council vice-president and secretary, NHS secretary, FFA reporter, FCA leader, co-captain for v volleyball, school plays, FCA and Newspaper Club.

Her community service includes volunteering at volleyball camp, blood drives, food drives, story walk and Bishop Hill Ag Days.

Karson is the son of Bob Shrum and Rachel VanHollebeke. He is a senior at Annawan High School with a class rank of 1 of 25 and a 4.0 GPA.

He has four-year achievement in High Honor Roll, All-Conference Academics basketball, track, cross country, football, baseball and Spanish Club. Three-year achievements are as cross country captain and basketball captain. He has two-year achievements in National Honor Society, Black Hawk College for Kids and MVP cross country. One-year achievements include All-Western 1st Team cross country, state qualifier, Led regional and the cross country team.

His community service includes volunteering for basketball camp, consignment sale, basketball chili fundraiser, after school/summer camp at YMCA, park league refereeing and St. Jude run.
