A mid‑March blizzard shut down schools and businesses across Kewanee and the area on Monday after snow and high winds moved into the area Sunday evening.

By Sunday night, school districts and businesses began announcing closures as forecasts called for several inches of snow paired with strong, gusty winds.
Kewanee School District, Wethersfield School District, Neponset, Galva and Cambridge all announced E‑Learning days. Black Hawk College East Campus also issued an emergency closure Sunday evening.
The Henry County Senior Citizens Center announced it would be closed Monday, with no home meal delivery. The Henry and Stark County Health Departments and their clinics will also be closed.
A blizzard warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. today. An additional 3 to 6 inches of snow is possible and travel is expected to be very difficult as blowing snow continues to impact visibility and road conditions.
Residents who must travel are encouraged to check whether businesses are open before leaving home. For Illinois road condition updates, visit gettingaroundillinois.com.
