James and Brandee Golnick

Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home in Kewanee has purchased the Haskell Funeral Homes in Wyoming and Princeville.

The homes were purchased from Bert and Veronica Haskell, who had been serving the two communities since 2013.

Brandee Golnick, who with her husband James operates the local funeral home, said the purchase of the two funeral homes closed last week. She said the acquisition process took about 15 months.

All of the Golnick-Schueneman staff in Kewanee will remain the same, she said. Also joining the staff are Nicole Reed, who has been serving the Wyoming and Princeville locations since 2016 and a new addition this year, Jake Martin.

Office manager Shalaine Maher and “multiple funeral assistants” also are joining the Golnick-Schueneman staff.

The staff will “float” among Kewanee, Wyoming and Princeville as needed, Mrs. Golnick said.

“The decision to purchase these two funeral homes was not made lightly,” said a post on the Golnick-Schueneman Facebook page. “We believe that the future of the funeral care industry is expansion by small, family-owned funeral homes, not corporations.

“We will continue to provide the same level of personal care for our communities and the surrounding area,” the post added.
