PEORIA — The Kewanee High School soccer team dropped its season-opening game 2-1 to Peoria Limestone Monday.

“The Boilermakers started pretty strong, showing they wanted to win the game,” Coach Jesus Bermudez said.

“Kewanee dominated most of the game, having clear opportunities to score,” Bermudez said.

He said Limestone had only one shot on goal in the first half, but it was good for a score.

“The Boilers kept up the pressure and it showed almost at the end of the first half, with a very strong kick with his left foot Cristian Cavers tied the game on a pass from Dillon Price.

Limestone scored at the 38-minute mark of the second half to win the game.

The Boilers had eight shots in the first half and four in the second.
