The Wethersfield Lady Geese rode a big 21-11 first quarter to a 50-44 conference win over Princeville on Monday. 

With the win, the Lady Geese boast a record of 23-4 )8-2 in the LTC.) Princeville slips to 16-12 and 6-4 in the conference. 

Wednesday will be Senior Night at Wethersfield as they take on the Galva Wildcats (4-18, 0-9). Seniors being honored are Kennady Anderson, Cora Hodge, Elle Eastman and Paige Huffman. The varsity game will start at 7 p.m. 

Cora Hodge will be one of the four seniors who will be honored at Senior Night. 

WHS 50, Princeville 44

Seniors Kennady Anderson and Paige Huffman combined to score 19 of Wethersfield’s 21 first quarter points. Anderson scored 10 and Huffman made three treys to help give the Lady Geese the early 21-11 lead. 

Princeville fought back in the second quarter and outscored Wethersfield 15-8 to pull within three at the half (29-26). 

Brodie led the Princes with eight second quarter points and she had 15 in the first half. Lana Scott sank two 3-pointers in the second frame for the Lady Geese. 

Wethersfield’s lead was cut to two at 39-37 after three quarters of play, but the Lady Geese scored 11 in the final quarter and held Princeville to seven points to earn the LTC win. 

Huffman made two more threes en route to scoring nine second half points and 18 for the game. Anderson tacked on seven more in the second half to complete her 19-point total. 

Brianna Brody led all scorers with 22 points and Paisley Schock and Kinsley McGinn each had 10 on the night.

Frosh-soph

The Wethersfield frosh-soph team moved to 18-1 after beating Princeville 35-16. 

Emelia Escareno had a game-high 15 points. Lana Scott and Megan Oliver had six apiece and Ashley Oliver chipped in with five.
