The varsity Lady Geese girls basketball team continues their season, working hard, in the Turkey Tournament for their third game against the Elmwood Trojans on Wednesday, Nov. 27. 

Even though the girls lost, they kept the game close. The final score was a close 40-42. 

The Lady Geese started off a little slow but eventually found their footing. By half-time, they had the lead, 18-11. The second half was close with each team making basket after basket. The Trojans’ driving, defensive plays were hard to fight against, but it just made the Lady Geese altogether more aggressive. 

Lana Scott was the top-scoring player for the Geese with 18 points. She made 10 out of 12 of her free throws along with 4 baskets. Followed by Lajaya Angel with 9 points, 6 of those being three-pointers. 

Despite the loss, the girls fought hard through the Trojans’ aggressive attack. Their perseverance throughout the game shows a positive outlook for the rest of their season. 

The Lady Geese took home another win against Brimfield’s Lady Indians in the conclusion of the Turkey Tournament on Friday, Nov. 29, taking third place overall. 

The Geese came out on top with a score of 57-34.

The girls were ready to take this win after their loss against Elmwood. They kept the lead the whole game, with a score of 27-16 at halftime. Once they found their momentum they maintained the lead and kept pushing. 

The second half was all the Lady Geese as they finished with a commanding 20-point lead. 

Lajaya Angel, a senior, was the leading scorer in this game with 15 points. Her aggressiveness in the paint was essential to the Lady Geese’s valiant victory. 

Without a doubt, the Lady Geese have an exciting season ahead of them. They play their first regular season game against the competitive Annawan Bravettes on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Wethersfield High School.
