The Sherrard Tigers were in the driver’s seat during the first half against the Lady Geese, but Wethersfield outscored the Tigers 26-15 in the second half to snatch the 47-43 road win.

Sherrard led 11-7 after the first quarter of play and topped Wethersfield 17-14 in the second frame to extend their lead to 28-21 at the break. 

Ellie Swanson hit two 3-pointers to lead Sherrard and Rachel Fender added five points in the first half. Kennady Anderson scored eight first half points for the Lady Geese. Paige Huffman had six and Lana Scott chipped in with five. 

Wethersfield chipped away at the Sherrard lead in the third quarter. Anderson made 5 of 6 free throws and scored nine points as the Sherrard lead shrank to two (36-34) with eight minutes left to play. 

Scott, Wethersfield’s freshman point guard, caught fire from the outside and hit two timely 3-pointers to help Wethersfield move ahead of Sherrard down the stretch. 

Anderson scored six more to lead the Lady Geese to the 47-43 non-conference win. 

Anderson scored a workman like 23 points in the contest. Scott followed with 12 and Huffman added nine in the win. Fender led Sherrard with nine points and Elsbury had seven in vain. 

Wethersfield is now 22-4 and Sherrard is 16-11 on the season.
