The Kewanee Veterans Council’s Veterans Day Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:15 a.m. at the Kewanee Post 31 American Legion, located at 1509 Railroad Ave.

The program will begin with a musical selection from the Wethersfield High School band, under the direction of Jay Hagaman.

Jerry Thompson, finance officer for the American Legion and the Kewanee Veterans Council, will act as master of ceremonies and provide the opening remarks.

The WHS Chorus will perform “The National Anthem,” and the WHS band will play several musical selections throughout the program. KVC Chaplain Lou VanDeVoorde will open the service with an invocation.

Speakers for the event will be WHS student Sophie Nimrick, and KHS students Eleanor Burkhart, Avery Yepsen and Jillian Bennison.

Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore will also offer a few remarks, and the American Legion and VFW Poppy Girl and Boy will be introduced. The service will conclude with the Firing Squad and Taps.

Afterwards, attendees are invited to stay for cake and coffee, provided by the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliaries.
