One arrest for driving under the influence, one seat belt violation, a citation for failure to restrain a child and four speeding tickets were the end result of the Kewanee Police Department’s holiday enforcement effort.
The campaign was conducted from Dec.12-Jan. 5 with eight hours of directed patrol resulting in the seven traffic stops, according to a press release from the KPD.
The police department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies statewide to participate in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket.”
According to the release, the campaign focused on removing impaired drivers from the roadway and making sure motorists were properly buckled up during the holiday season.
