
Kewanee High School sophomore Chris Crowe qualified for the state track finals in two events.
At the sectional meet in Galesburg last week, Crowe placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.87 meters. The first-place finisher in the event, Antwon Walker of Galeburg, cleared 1.92 meters.
Crowe also qualified in the long jump. His jump of 6.57 was just shy of the fifth-place finisher, Lucas Alwardt of Metamora, who jumped 6.58 meters.
Kaden Powers of Morrison placed first in that event with a 7.06-meter jump.
Kewanee’s Anthony Padilla just missed qualifying for state in the 110 meter hurdles. His time of 15.86 seconds was just behind Casey Etheridge of Princeton, a state qualifier at 15.40 seconds.
