On Thursday, Jan. 8, Kewanee hosted duals against Eureka and Knoxville and recognized 16 seniors.

Seniors acknowledged were Jazlyn Dearing, Jorden Anderson and Itzel Rivas (stat girls), Hailey Lampe, Brayden Johnson, Airies Simmons, Dontel Wommack Jr., Hunter Vancil, Trenton Edens, Kingston Peterson, Landyn Greenhagen, Chance DeSplinter, Landon Weir, Esmeralda Martinez, Jesse Gurnsey and Douglas Swearingen.

Their dedication to the team this year earned them their leadership roles and position as role models to Kewanee’s current and future wrestlers.

After a long night on Kewanee’s home mats, the wrestling team traveled to St. Bede the next day, wrestling ACC, St. Bede and Erie. Competing against team after team, they racked up five more wins for Kewanee wrestling.

On Saturday, the wrestling girls traveled to the Erie Invite, where Jendayia Crowe took home third place and Aaliyah Swearingen placed second.

Kewanee will next wrestle Thursday and Friday at home, and will host the Kewanee Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Brockman Gym.
