The Kewanee FFA chapter celebrated an evening of leadership, achievement, and recognition at the FFA Section 3 banquet last week.

Two Kewanee FFA members earned leadership positions on the 2026–2027 Section 3 officer team following a rigorous application, interview, speech and election process.

Kelsey Scott was elected the 2026–2027 Section 3 president and Summer Simmons will be the 2026–2027 Section 3 historian.

Kelsey’s accomplishment is especially significant, as she now becomes one of only 25 section presidents in Illinois.

“These positions are not easily earned,” said Kewanee FFA advisors. “They require tremendous dedication, preparation, leadership, and courage. We are incredibly proud of Kelsey and Summer for the way they represented Kewanee throughout the entire process.”

Candidates for the officer team completed extensive preparation, including serving as chapter leadership team members, completing the official officer application process, participating in interviews and speeches and campaigning and engaging in delegate voting.

The evening also showcased the creativity and talent of Kewanee FFA members in the Section 3 Ag Communications Contest. Winners were:

Photography Contest: FFA Jackets Best: first place, Aiden Gros.

Animals in Ag: first place, Katy Carton

Magical Moments: first place, Jonah Janey, Kewanee; second place, Jaxon Janey

Ag Ed at Its Finest: first place, Tripp Rieker

Section 3 scrapbook competitionnd: first place, Kewanee FFA

“These accomplishments represent far more than awards,” advisors said. “They reflect the countless hours our students spend learning, growing, serving others, building friendships, and creating meaningful experiences through FFA.”

“The continued success of the Kewanee FFA program highlights the strong leadership, dedication, and passion of its members and advisors,” School Supt. Rebecca Baney said. “Kewanee students continue to raise the bar through hard work, character, service and a commitment to excellence in agricultural education.”
