Plans are underway for Kewanee’s 19th annual Lighted Christmas Parade, on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. Hosted by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, the event invites residents, businesses, churches, schools and organizations to take part in this popular community holiday tradition.

The parade will begin in the parking lot of the former Tenney Bowl, now D’Luxe Auto Wash, and proceed along McClure Street before disbanding at Windmont Park. There, the celebration continues with the lighting of Windmont and Northeast Parks, unveiling their spectacular illuminated holiday displays. This magical moment marks the official start of the season for many in the community.

Participants are encouraged to get creative with their entries, and the Chamber is offering guidance on how to illuminate floats or design eye-catching displays. Interested groups can reach out to the Chamber at 309-852-2175 for tips and support.

Organizers ask that parade entries refrain from including Santa or Mrs. Claus, as Santa himself will be featured in the parade making his way to Windmont Park to greet children and help launch the lighting ceremony. This ensures the magic of his arrival remains a highlight for families gathered along the route.

Kewanee’s Lighted Christmas Parade promises to be a heartwarming evening for all. This event kicks off the official start of the holiday season in Kewanee and culminates in the lighting of both Windmont and Northeast parks.

Entry forms can be obtained from the KCOC.
