Kewanee Hog Days 2023 could be the most toe-tapping, tune-humming festival ever due to a marked increase in musical groups performing in and around the festival. Committee Co-chair and Entertainment Chairperson Mike Komnick is making this year’s event musically diverse.

As in many year’s past, there is still an evening act appearing on the big main stage in the Peoples’ Bank Lot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. This year’s main stage acts include: “The West Macqueen Street Band” on Friday; “Arra” on Saturday evening and “Michael Moncada and Whisky HIgh” on Sunday.

All three live-concerts begin at 7 pm each evening, but there’s also smaller groups appearing around the festival all weekend long.

A small staging area will be set up near Tremont and Second streets with “Jazz on the Side” appearing Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm. “River City Six” will be in the same area Sunday from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Over at the Craft Show/Flea Market, Lewis Knudsen will be offering live entertainment while attendees shop the West Park event Saturday from 2-4 pm. “Homestyle Acoustic” makes music there on Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm, and Chris Stevens entertains Sunday from 3-6 pm.

While festival goers are waiting to enjoy a pork chop or pork patty sandwich at the barbecue area at Third and Chestnut streets, they will be able to enjoy “The Jack Watson Quintet” on Saturday from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. “Dead Horse Acoustic Bandwagon” will play there Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm and “Dave Berchtold & The Tucked in T’s” will perform from 3-6 pm on Sunday. Monday, the “Glory Days Garage Band” will appear under the Barbecue tent from noon to 2 pm.

The Hog Days Festival Committee admits they may not be able to please everyone with their musical line-up, but they will definitely come close. Kewanee Hog Days is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4.
