

Madison Bates and Dylan Gehl are the Kewanee Elks #724 September “Teens of the Month.”
Bates is the daughter of Justin and Christy Bates and a senior at Galva High School. Her GPA is 4.0 and her class rank is 1 of 34. Her four-year achievement is high honor roll. Three-year achievements include academic all-conference for softball, volleyball and track. Two-year achievements are National Honor Society, FFA officer and athlete of the year. Her one-year achievements are as class president and vice president, secretary, student council president and treasurer, NHS president, FCA leader, cheerleading captain, FFA greenhand, junior officer, co-captain of the basketball team, volleyball and softball, school plays, coaches award in basketball, Drama Club, FCA, student council and the Newspaper Club.
Bates’ community service includes volunteering with a story wall, trash collection at the park, providing sensory bottles for elementary students and school blood drives.
Gehl is the son of Barney and Maria Gehl. A senior at Geneseo High School, his class rank is in the top 10 percent of the class with a GPA of 4.34. His four-year achievements are in high honor roll, all-conference academic track, cross country, musicals, chorus and swing choir. His three-year achievements are in Manplettes, student council and the robotics team. He has two-year achievements are class president, Drama Club, Scholastic Team, robotics, National Honor Society, Environmental and Dance Marathon, co-captain of cross country and pep band. His one-year achievements are National Honor Society vice-president, marathon captain and track co-captain.
Accolades from Geneseo include holding 3200m and cross country records. His community service includes volunteering in community choir, best of the day, outstanding nomination in solo contest and dance marathon.
