The Kewanee boys’ track and field team competed at the Cavalier Classic on Saturday in LaSalle-Peru and finished third among the field of six teams. 

Yorkville outdistanced the field for first place with a total of 221 points. Pontiac was second with 112, Kewanee had 91 points, Morris and Streator tied for fourth with 51 points and LaSalle-Peru was sixth with 20 points. 

The Boilers had two first place finishes on the day. Anthony Padilla won the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 17.02 and Leocadio Gandarilla won the discus with a throw of 143′ 6″. 

Kewanee had individual runner-up efforts by JJ Roginski in the high jump (6′ 0.75″) and Dontaveon Thomas in the long jump with a leap of 19′ 3.5″. 

The Boilers also placed second in the 4×200 meter relay in a time of 1:40.26. Members of the relay are Anthony Padilla, Davontae Jordan, Cristian Cazares and Tyson Currie. 

Currie had a third place finish in the pole vault, going 8′ 11.75″ and two Kewanee relays placed third (4×400 and 4×800). 

Members of the 4×400 relay are Anthony Padilla, Prestin Stabler, JJ Roginski and Davontae Jordan.

Members of the 4×800 relay are Michael Bermudez, Jason Rusk, Jack Coombs and Hunter Vancil. 

Kewanee will be back on the track Tuesday in Princeton.
