The Kewanee boys and girls each had runner-up efforts Thursday at the Sherrard Tiger Relays. 

Monmouth-Roseville slipped past the Boilers for title bragging rights. Mon-Rose tallied 99 points and Kewanee scored 96 among the field of eight teams. 

The host Tigers won eight of ten running events and scored 120 points to earn the girls title. Danielle Jo Currier of Kewanee won the long jump and triple jump events en route to leading the Boiler Girls to a second place finish. 

Currier also set new KHS standards in the frosh-soph and varsity triple jump. She had a winning leap of 33′ 5.5″ which broke the previous varsity record of 33′ 0.5″ by Emma Crofton (set in 2023). The previous frosh-soph standard of 32′ 09″ was set by Breanne (Christiansen) Cinnamon.

The Boilers won five events in their second-place effort. Dontaveon Thomas and Anthony Padilla each had two wins for Kewanee and James Roginski had one win. 

Thomas won the long jump and triple jump events. Padilla placed first in the 110 meter hurdles and he was a member of the winning 4×200 meter relay team. James Roginski went 6′ 1.5″ en route to winning the high jump. 

Other members of the 4×200 relay are Tre Amos, Tyson Currie and Davontae Jordan.
