The Kewanee boys and girls participated in the Ferris Co-Ed Invitational Track and Field Meet last week in Princeton and both teams placed second among the field of five teams. 

Rock Falls topped the boys’ field with 284 points and Kewanee was second with 242.5. Rounding out the field were Princeton with 162, Mendota 129 and Hall 85. 

In the girls’ competition, Princeton scored 249 points, edging out Kewanee (243 points). Rock Falls was third with 209, Mendota had 129 and Hall was fifth with 85 points. 

The Kewanee boys won four events and the girls won three. Anthony Padilla swept the hurdles events, winning the 110 meter hurdles in 15.66 and the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 42.48.

Dontaveon Thomas cleared 6′ en route to winning the high jump and James Roginski was second, going 5′ 10″. The 4×100 relay team was first in a time of 44.95. Members of the team are Cristian Cazares, Davontae Jordan, Prestin Stabler and Tre Amos. 

Natalee Martin won the 3200 meter run in a time of 13:30.00. Rachel DeRycke and Jendayia Crowe topped the field in the 300 meter hurdles. DeRycke won the event in 52.27 and Crowe was second in 53.09.

Danielle Jo Currier and Kolbie Cernovich claimed the top two spots in the long jump. Currier won with a leap of 16′ 0.25″ and Cernovich was second, going 15′ 3″.
