
The Kewanee boys track and field team was crowned the winner of the Howard-Monier Co-ed Invitational Thursday night in Princeton. The Boilers scored 154 points en route to besting the 6-team boys’ field.
“This was our best team performance of the season,” said Kewanee Coach Chad Palm.
Bureau Valley was the runner-up with 127 points, Princeton was third with 115, Annawan-Wethersfield was fourth with 61, Hall was fifth with 51 and LaSalle-Peru was sixth with 46 points.
Kewanee finished first in seven of the 18 events. Anthony Padilla swept the two hurdles events and ran a leg of the winning 4×200 relay (Cristian Cazares, Davontae Jordan, Tyson Currie, Anthony Padilla). Prestin Stabler won the 400 meter dash and was part of the first place 4×400 relay (Davontae Jordan, Michael Bermudez, Dontaveon Thomas, Prestin Stabler).
Dontaveon Thomas was the winner of the long jump and he was also a member of the winning 4×400 relay. Davontae Jordan was another a double winner. He ran legs in the 4×200 and 4×400 relays. Leocadio Gandarilla placed first in the discus.
Karson Shrum of Annawan-Wethersfield topped the field in the 800 meter run.
Bureau Valley had three event winners. Justin Moon finished first in the high jump and triple jump and the Storm won the 4×800 relay (Maddox Moore, Nathan Siri, Zac Wiggin, Adrian Gallardo).
