The Kewanee Boilermaker softball team came out on top in a close home game against the Erie-Prophetstown Panthers on Friday.

The Boilermakers were down 2-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the team managed to hold the Panthers in their final at bat in the seventh inning to zero runs. Kewanee came back with a last inning rally, scoring three runs and bringing the final score to 5-4.

Kewanee outhit the Panthers 8-7. Hope Peed led the Boilermakers offense with two hits and one RBI. Makaela Salisbury had one hit and two RBIs. McKensey Stontz had one hit and one RBI. Kalleigh Gale, Tori Dennison, Hannah Tiska, and Cheyanne Rodgers also added one hit each.

Gale started on the mound for Kewanee. She worked the mound for five innings, racking up seven strike outs and allowing six hits. Salisbury came into the game in relief for an inning and had one strike out and one hit.
