The Kewanee Boilermaker softball team defeated the Mendota Trojans 10-5 in a home contest on Tuesday.
The Boilermakers got started in a big third inning, scoring nine runs. The Trojans failed to respond until the sixth inning when they were able to put three runs on the board. Kewanee added one more run in the sixth and held the Trojans to two runs in the seventh, bringing the final score to 10-5.
Kewanee outhit Mendota 10-5. Kalleigh Gale had two hits and two RBIs. Marissa Stevens and Ava LaFollette had two hits each. McKensey Stontz had one hit and three RBIs. Tori Dennison had one hit and two RBIs. Hope Peed and Hannah Tiska each added one hit and one RBI.
Makaela Salisbury pitched a complete game for the Boilermakers. She allowed only five hits and was able to rack up eight strikeouts for the night.
