Time is running out to submit your entry for the annual Hog Days parade, said Mark Mikenas, executive director of the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce.

“We are especially looking for floats and entries that are unique and fun,” he said.

In order for Mikenas to line up the parade and get the information out to the entries in a timely manner, he must have all entry forms in by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.

“Even if you do not have all the details worked out, reserving a space is the best way to get your entry in the parade. We have many bands and musical entries signed up, so we need entries to place in between those units”

The easiest way to sign up is online at www.kewanee-il.com/parade.

This year’s theme is “Kewanee Hog Days…Pigs Just Wanna Have Fun,” and entries are encouraged to utilize this theme.

The Ambassador Club of Kewanee for the 50th year is taking on the duties of the parade for the Hog Days Festival committee. This year’s parade will kick off at 2 p.m. sharp on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Awards and cash prizes are awarded to winners in many categories.
