KHS volleyball gets two wins, one loss

Kewanee High School’s volleyball team won two out of its last three matches, with wins over Mendota and Bureau Valley and a loss to Erie-Prophetstown.

The Boiler Girls beat Mendota in a conference match 25-13, 25-20.

West Central tops Lady Geese

Wethersfield’s varsity volleyball team lost to West Central 25-13, 20-25, 22-25.

KHS Cross country boys, girls run in Monmouth

The Kewanee Boilermaker cross country team ran at the TRAC conference meet Tuesday afternoon in Monmouth. 

For the girls, Kewanee’s Nolie Charlet finished in seventh place with a time of 21:53 gaining her all-conference honors. 

Alejandra Martinez finished 17th at 24:00, Esmeralda Martinez finished 31st at 26:16, and Tiffany Helton finished 59th with a time of 32:13. 

For the boys, Jason Rusk was the top finisher at 16th with a time of 18:58, missing all-conference by one place. 

Hunter Vancil finished 30th with a time of 20:03, Mitchal Thorp finished 55th with a time of 23:20 and Jermain McKnight was 57th with a time of 23:40. 

The Boilermakers will run in Elmwood on Saturday morning.

Boiler golfers ninth in regional

Kewanee High School’s golf team placed ninth in an IHSA regional tournament at Emerald Hill in Sterling.

The Boilers’ team score was 421. Dixon placed first in the regional with a team score of 336.

Individual scores for Kewanee were Owen Laue 99, Reid Nichols 100, Landon Sheets and Jack Anderson, each 111, Elijah Mitchell 123 and Carver Neulieb 141.
