The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Henry County coroner have released an update on the human remains found in rural Kewanee in March. The news release comes after a request for an update Tuesday by The Kewanee Voice.
According to the news release, a workup of the skeletal remains was conducted at the Human Osteology Labatory at the Illinois State Museum. The archaeologist was able to determine the remains belonged to a caucasian male that was 5’6″- 5’9″ with an age between 30-53 years old. The subject would have been in good physical shape and had previous trauma to their head. No other characteristics could be determined. A cause of death could not be determined based off of the remains.

A sketch artist was able to create a possible image of what the subject could have looked like and known missing subjects from the local area were able to be ruled out based on the defining characteristics and also through dental records.
This release of information was a joint effort and in cooperation with the Henry County Coroner Melissa Watkins.
The incident is still an open investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 309-937-3911.
The lead investigator for the case is Sgt. Detective Jake Koster.
