The Henry County Democratic Party will host their Annual Hog Roast at the Colona American Legion, located at 312 Broadway St., on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5-7 pm.

The hog roast will feature the “world’s best cheesy potatoes” and a big cash bonanza with a top prize of $1,000. Second place prize can receive $200; third place prize is $150 and fourth place will receive $100. The tickets for the bonanza are $20 and only 200 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from a member of the Henry County Democrats.

The funds raised from the event are used to support Democratic candidates.

“This is why your continued support is so important,” said Betty Murphy, chair of the Democratic Party. “We so appreciate your attendance as well as your donation.”

In a newsletter, Murphy said she never imagined that in 2023, they would still have to fight for women’s healthcare; the ability to read books that you choose or teaching history as it actually happened.

Murphy is requesting that local Democrats come out to attend the important event, but those who can’t and wish to make a donation, can do so by sending checks made payable to the Henry County Democrats to Betty Murphy, 16854 E. 150th St., Orion, IL 61273.
