The Henry and Stark County Health Departments, along with First Choice Healthcare staff and clients sported red last Friday in recognition of “National Wear Red Day” on Feb. 6.

The health designation is a special day during February’s American Heart Month and was created to focus attention and awareness of women’s heart health. Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the US.

The Health Department is using the day to remind area residents that their family nurse practitioners in Kewanee and Toulon can help with the management of high blood pressure and high cholesterol. If you don’t know your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers, the staff at the clinics can help you see where you stand.

For more information on heart-friendly programs and services call the First Choice Healthcare clinic nearest you: Kewanee 309-852-5272; and Toulon 309-852-3115.
