If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, the Kewanee Prairie Chicken Arts Festival has a new event with you in mind. This year, the annual arts festival will hold a Swiftie Party.

Unsure of what a “Swiftie” is? A “Swiftie” is a fan of Taylor Swift, the very popular female singer/songwriter with 11 number one hits, 243 released songs, and 49 top 10 hits. Swift is currently on her worldwide Eras Tour, 2023-2024.

The free PCAF music event is designed with a younger crowd in mind, said event organizers.

DJ Lorna Stoner will play Taylor Swift tunes from 7-9 p.m. on Friday evening, July 19 in the big Rotary tent by the old go-kart track on West Third Street in Kewanee.

Attendees can dance, be treated to refreshments, make their own Era friendship bracelets, and pose for selfies with friends in front of a special photo backdrop.

Susan Blake, retired art teacher from Kewanee High School, created the original artwork for the backdrop along with her granddaughter. Bracelet kits, refreshments, and heart shaped sunglasses will be offered while supplies last.

Anyone attending is encouraged to dress in their favorite Taylor Swift era or as their favorite Kansas City Chiefs player. In October 2023, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs tight end, went public with their relationship uniting fans of her music world with fans of his sports world.

All age groups are welcome to attend. Kids age 7-12 can attend without an adult as long as they are signed in and out by their parent/guardian. Those under 7 years-old are able to attend but will need to be supervised by an adult. Teenagers 13 and above and adults are welcome as well. Seating is limited so lawn chairs are encouraged for anyone who wishes to sit and listen to the music.

This special event is sponsored by Kewanee’s Prairie Chicken Arts Festival Committee and Kewanee’s Rotary Club.
