Abigail and Kenneth Wolf, sister and brother from rural Geneseo, made it through round five of the Food Network’s Baking Championship: Next Gen.

This week featured a sleepover theme, with the challenge being the creation of a “breakfast imposter.” Judges Duff and Kardea tasked them with making something that looked like breakfast but tasted like dessert. The contestants were to create an entree with two sides. There was also a special requirement; one of their creations had to have a coffee flavor.

A variety of ideas were presented by the contestants. Among them were hashbrowns made from toasted coconut, oatmeal from rice pudding, American fries from apple chunks and a breakfast sandwich from a doughnut, layered with colored fondant. All mimicked a breakfast entry, and all looked incredibly real.

The Wolf duo’s creation included avocado toast, sausage patties and a fruit and cookie crumb parfait. The toast, made from a pound cake and decorated with two shades of green frosting, was a hit with the judges, who praised Abigail for its realism. Kenneth received a shout of “perfect” from Duff for his fruity parfait, who said it was the best he’d ever had. Both kids got high marks for the sausages made from chocolate cookies topped with a chocolate coffee glaze.

Once all the teams were judged, two teams were placed at the top, with one team winning sleepover Teddy bears from Duff and Kardea. Abigail and Kenneth were one of the two teams chosen, and although the other team won the bears, they received high marks for their entry.

The Geneseo pair will be back again next week, when the challenge will be to create edible friendship bracelets. At the end of the contest, the winners will take home a $25,000 prize and the distinction of being the Baking Championship’s 2026 best bakers.

You can catch next week’s episode on the Food Network Monday at 7 p.m. Central Time.

Author’s note: The Wolfs seem to have mastered the art of working together very well to make a variety of delicious entries and are hopeful their talent will take them all the way to a championship win. So far, they have been standout contestants. Win or lose, they are a great team.
