Contestants Abigail and Kenneth Wolf baking process
Contestants Abigail and Kenneth Wolf, baking process, as seen on Baking Championship: Next Gen, Season 1.

Abigail and Kenneth Wolf, siblings from Geneseo, are still in the race to win the Food Network’s Baking Championship: Next Gen.

They easily made it through episode four with their red velvet “puzzle” cake, depicting the personalities and hobbies of each other. Kenneth chose to decorate the large puzzle piece with colorful dumbbells and corn stalks, explaining that his sister likes to lift weights and loves anything to do with corn. Abigail, who has helped her father farm since a young age, added, “Our decorations will always have some corn in them.”

Kenneth’s puzzle piece, which easily fit into the larger cake, was decorated with a realistic looking basketball and football. A thick layer of cream cheese frosting covered the layers, and that got a “perfect” rating from the judges.

The judges spend time with each pair reviewing the pros and cons of their baking entries, offering helpful suggestions, and encouraging the team to continue baking. Each episode sees one team leaving the contest. When that pair is announced, the other contestants gather around them, with hugs and words of praise. Kenneth is usually the first to offer his hug and kind words to the pair going home.

The siblings live in rural Geneseo with their parents, Dan and Erica Wolf, and their sister, Lucy, who is 13. Mom homeschools the three, and each of them helps to run the farming operation. Both Abigail and Kenneth do a lot of baking at home, while Lucy is involved in competitive gymnastics.

Next week’s challenge will see the remaining siblings prepare a “sleepover breakfast composition.” Each team will design its own entry to look like a breakfast item. It will air on the Food Network’s channel at 7 p.m. Central Time.
