The Local Motive in Geneseo was approved for a liquor license at the city council meeting last week.

GENESEO — At last week’s meeting, the Geneseo City Council approved an additional liquor license for Local Motive, with dissent from Alderman Craig Arnold. The decision increases the number of Class D liquor licenses in Geneseo to five and brings the city’s total number of liquor licenses to 40.

The council also addressed a stormwater drainage issue in the Route 6 TIF development zone behind Hodgson Auto Body and next to the Freedom Barricade parking lot. Hutchinson was approved to handle the project at a cost of $25,000.

Development plans for the J.F. Edwards expansion were approved, allowing the project to move forward. The pedestrian bridge project has been submitted to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for review. Updated plans to meet ADA compliance standards increased the project’s cost by $130,000.

Ricky Newcomb of Bi‑State Regional Commission discussed the Henry‑Stark hazard mitigation plan, which he asked the council to approve and adopt. The plan, required by FEMA, outlines strategies to mitigate potential natural hazards. It covers a five‑year period and imposes no requirements on the city, which may add or remove mitigation measures as approved by the council.

Alderwoman Paula Simosky reported that the city had been billed twice by Sutton Ford for a new Ford Explorer police interceptor.

Also of note:

Pink’s Bus Service was recognized by the council for 80 years of service to the community.
