On Tuesday, the Flying Geese played the Earlville Raiders at home. Both the varsity and JV teams had the determination to win and win they did.

To kick off the varsity game, the Raiders received possession of the jump ball. Very soon after, Collin Hodge managed to retrieve the ball and score a three-point shot to start the Geese’s scoreboard.

Just a few moments later, Alejandro Garcia got possession of the ball, shot, and made a two-pointer.

The first period ended with a hard-fought 10-4 lead by the Geese. By the end of the first half, the Geese remained in the lead with a 26-9 score.

Entering the second half with unbreakable spirit, the Geese scored 15 more points and only allowed the Raiders five in period three.

It has been apparent based on these past few games that the Geese have tended to struggle with the second half, but not tonight. The Geese were on fire and unleashed their true game-winning potential and won the game with a final score of 52-18.

The lead scorers were junior Hodge with 16, senior Drew Hornback with 10, and junior Kruz Galbraith and sophomore Garcia, both scoring 9.

Galbraith had four rebounds this game. Garcia also had a great night with three assists and four steals.

In the case of junior varsity, their game was just as accomplished.

The game began with the Geese’s possession, where Dane Ross immediately made a layup as the opening point. Very soon after, Ross again scored with another layup.

The final score of the first period was 14-0, Geese in the lead.

The first half concluded with a score of 17-5, with the Geese still leading.

The Geese held their game strong throughout the third period, maintaining their large lead and ending the period with a score of 31-5. Although they were driven for success, their game got rocky as the fourth period progressed. As this nerve-wracking period came to an end, the Geese seized the win with a final score of 31-20.

The lead scorers were sophomore Ross with 12, freshman Isaiah Cornish with 9, and sophomore Jace Nichols and freshman Cainen Winter, both scoring 3.
