The Wethersfield boys basketball team got a solid win over ROWVA-Williamsfield for both junior varsity and varsity Wednesday. 

It was a tough game on both sides with nonstop pressure, but the Geese pulled through for the wins.

The varsity game started with a three-pointer from Collin Hodge. The Geese carried the momentum into the second quarter and were up by six, 16-10. The competitiveness of both teams was felt throughout the gym.

ROWA-Williamsfield responded fast, driving to the hoop multiple times, with some quick scoring by both teams. Kruz Galbraith shot three-pointers, assisting the team to a score of 30-25 by halftime.

Out of halftime, Drew Hornback drove in for a layup for the first point back. Wethersfield seemed to lose their ground after halftime and let their lead slip away. By the end of the third quarter, the score 40-34 ROWVA-Williamsfield.

Fans were on the edge of their seats by the fourth quarter when the Geese decided to change up their game and ended strong with a win.

Strong defense on both sides led to multiple steals, and a final score of 52-44.

Top scorers for Wethersfield were senior Drew Hornback with 17 points, followed by sophomore Alejandro Garcia. Hornback’s playmaking was on point during this game, as he finished with the most assists.

The game went similarly for Wethersfield’s junior varsity team, as they achieved the win after some fierce competition, with the final score of 46-45.
