The Wethersfield boys basketball team stepped out of the conference Friday and suffered a 77-54 loss at Orion.

The host Chargers took command early, roiling out to a 19-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. 

Gus Nedved scored 11 of his game-high 28 points in the second quarter as the host Charges pulled out to a 37-26 halftime lead.

Orion’s lead grew to 63-44 after three quarters, and the hosts outscored the visitors 14-10 in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.

Orion’s Tyler Owens made three treys in the first quarter and ended up with 23 on the evening.

For the Geese, Landon Sauer led the way with 15 points and Colin Hornback had 14.

The Geese are now 4-6 on the season, while Orion improved to 7-3.
