The Garden Club of Kewanee is back for another year of celebrating the town’s most stunning yards—but they need the community’s help.

After six years of handing out ‘Yard of the Month’ awards, the search for fresh, creative landscapes has become a bit of a challenge. Mother Nature hasn’t exactly been cooperating this spring, with chilly temperatures and gloomy skies making it tough for flowers to flourish. Even longtime garden club member Marcia Niemeier admitted she waited until last weekend to plant her blooms.

And here’s the thing: with 18 winners already honored across town, finding stunning new yards takes more than just club members scouting the streets. That’s where the community can support the Garden Club.

Know a neighbor whose flower beds are bursting with color? Have a family member whose front yard or even back yard is the envy of the block? Maybe even your own landscaping deserves a little spotlight?

Don’t let a hidden gem go unnoticed. Nominate a yard today by calling or texting Joline Oswald at 309-333-1114 with the address and help keep the tradition blooming.
