Adults with a passion for board games, but maybe no one to play them with, are encouraged to join the Tabletop Club, a new group formed at the Kewanee Public Library by Denise Dimmitt, information services manager.

Dimmitt started the board game club at the request of some of the library patrons. Her goal is to bring entertainment to adults “with not much to do” or those with kids in school. “It’s a good way to meet and connect with new people, and it’s something different for adults to do.” Dimmitt said.

Available at the club are a variety of games such as Monopoly, Life, Clue and Yahtzee. The Tabletop Club is inviting adults to bring a friend, bring a snack and even bring their own game. The club meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Dimmitt said that she is open to suggestions as to other days, times and games that would work for people.

“We just want to bring people in,” she said.
