GALVA- A drive with some hot cocoa will be in order on Saturday, Dec. 16 when the Galva Arts Council presents its 5th annual “Tour of Lights.”

The festivities begin at the Art Council’s building, located at 128 Exchange St. at 5 pm. A map of the decorated homes, as well as coffee, hot chocolate and a variety of sweets will be available to those interested in the self-guided tour.

Council Board Member and Treasurer Tami Siemers said that, in the past, there have been upwards of 20 homes to view – each with a festive array of lights and holiday décor.

Following the drive of lights, tour participants are invited back to the Arts Council to vote on their favorite house and select the 2023 winner.

This tour is just one of the popular events sponsored by the Council.

“It’s a great way to showcase the beauty and holiday spirit of the town,” and there is still time for entries in the tour – up to and including the day before, said Siemers.

Homeowners who wish to enter their home in the tour are asked to contact the Arts Council at galvaartscouncil.org, or through its Facebook page or by calling (563) 293-6986.

Siemers said that the tour is free and open to the public, but donations are appreciated to help cover some of the costs of the event.
