Police responded to a complaint of criminal damage to property in the 800 block of SE 2nd Street.
Police were flagged down in reference to a lost cell phone from the Levitt AMP concert in the 300 block of NW 6th Avenue. The officer checked the surrounding area but was unable to locate the phone.
Police noticed a train coming to an abrupt stop while patrolling. BNSF was contacted and advised that the train had a mechanical issue. The train blocked every Galva crossing for over two hours before a repair was made and the train continued on its way.
Police checked on an abandoned car parked in the 600 block of SW 2nd Street. The owner had parked it there while waiting for the train and had walked away.
May 28:
Police responded to a report of a utility wire that had been struck by a large truck in the 300 block of NE 5th Street. The officer determined it was a phone line.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 800 block of West Division Street. The owner was able to capture the dogs and take them back home.
Police responded to an attempted break-in complaint in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue.
Police met with a resident in reference to a theft complaint at the Galva Police Department.
Police responded to a report of a stolen lawn mower in the 100 block of East Division Street. The mower was located and returned after it was determined to be a civil property dispute.
Police assisted a subject who had knocked over a motorcycle and needed help standing it back up in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street. No damage was reported.
Police responded to a verbal dispute between a parent and a young child in the 400 block of SE 3rd Street.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 00 block of NE 4th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.
Austin Hollon, 25, Galva, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, and not having valid registration as the result of a traffic stop in the 200 block of SE 6th Avenue. He was transported to the Galva Police Department for processing and released with a required court date.
Police spoke with a subject that appeared to be having a mental health crisis in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
May 29:
Police responded to a request to watch for a vehicle involved in a harassment complaint on the north edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the vehicle in question.
Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NE 6th Avenue.
May 30:
Police spoke to a resident in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street about a city ordinance violation while patrolling. The subject agreed to clean up the yard in the next day or two.
Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on the public right-of-way in the 500 block of SW 6th Avenue. The officer attempted to contact the owners, without success. The vehicle was towed away.
Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of NW 3rd Street. A key holder was present and accidentally activated the alarm.
Police responded to an abandoned vehicle complaint in the 100 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was removed.
Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
May 31:
Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 900 block of North Center Avenue. It was determined to be a child playing with a phone.
Police responded to a report that a utility wire had been struck by a large truck at the intersection of SE 1st Street and SE 6th Avenue. Frontier was contacted for repairs.
Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 200 block of NE 7th Street.
Marcus Miller, 35, Peoria, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance as the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.
Police responded to a loud party complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
June 1:
Police, along with the Galva Fire Department and Stark Co Medic, responded to a report of a residence filled with smoke in the 400 block of SW 6th Street.
Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on NW 2nd Avenue. The subject was fine.
Police responded to a subject having a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.
Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject at a residence on SW 3rd Avenue.
June 2:
Police responded to a reckless driving complaint in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street.
Police responded to a verbal dispute at Wiley Park.
Police responded to a report of a juvenile subject who was lost during the concert in Wiley Park. The child’s parents were located.
Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of South Center Avenue.
Luke Rawlings, 41, Galva, was issued a notice to appear in court for disorderly conduct-breach of peace after police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 900 block of West Division Street.
Karla Lozano, 32, Kewanee, was issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.
