Police responded to a report of a semi-truck that hit and destroyed a yield sign and metal post at the intersection of NE 2nd Avenue and NE 3rd Street. The driver was located and agreed to pay for the damage.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 00 block of NE 7th Street. The officer recognized the dog as belonging to a family from rural Bishop Hill. The owner was contacted and came to retrieve the animal.

Luke Myers, 33, Peoria, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance after a traffic stop in the 600 block of NW 3rd Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Police assisted IL DCFS with providing copies of reports for an active case.

May 14:

Police responded to an active panic alarm in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to an unfounded complaint in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police met with a subject who found a woman’s purse and turned it in. The owner was located, and the purse was returned.

May 15:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 700 block of North Center Avenue. The officer recognized it as belonging to a family in rural Bishop Hill. They were contacted and came and picked up the dog.

Police assisted Mediacom with traffic control while they removed an overhead wire at the intersection of Commercial and Chester Streets.

Police responded to an open line 9-1-1 call in the 400 block of SE 4th Street. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Collin Elgin, 19, Galva, was arrested for “harmful material” as the result of an investigation into inappropriate images being sent to another subject. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and later released with a required court date.

Police responded to a request by the Kewanee Police Department to check a few Galva residences for a juvenile runaway. The subject was not located in Galva.

May 16:

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 100 block of NE 1st Street. The officer spoke to the owner, who agreed to put the animal inside.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 200 block of Exchange Street. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. This complaint was unfounded.

May 17:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 800 block of NW 3rd Avenue. It was impounded and later released to its owner.

Illegal burning was reported in the 100 block of SE 3rd Street. The fire was extinguished.

May 18:

Police spoke to a resident by telephone about a possible violation of a civil/no stalking order.

Police responded to a complaint involving two loose pit bulls in the 100 block of NE 8th Avenue. The owner advised the fence was broken and took the dogs home.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check of a subject “slumped over” in a vehicle in the 1300 block of SE 2nd Street. They were napping and didn’t require any medical care.
Police responded to a complaint involving an obstructed street sign at SE 1st Avenue and SE 4th Street.

Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute involving two adult brothers in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue. One brother agreed to leave for the night.

Police responded to a disturbance involving a juvenile and a grandparent in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police responded to a request for a motorist assist in the 00 block of Wallace Street.

Bryce Jefko, 35, St Louis, Mo., was issued a citation for speeding in the 700 block of West Division Street.

May 19:

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of Morgan Road. The owner responded and took it back home.

Police responded to a request to check on a possible intoxicated pedestrian in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The subject refused any services.

Police responded to an activated panic alarm in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police assisted an elderly subject following a power outage in the 300 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 1000 block of West Division Street.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance following a child custody exchange in the 600 block of NW 7th Street.
