March 9:

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance between siblings in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to return items from a theft complaint that was reported last week. The victim declined to press charges and was able to get the property back.

Police responded to an obstruction in the roadway on the Galva -Atkinson blacktop just north of town. The officer was able to remove several items that likely fell from an unknown vehicle.

Police responded to a complaint involving criminal damage to property in the 800 block of SW 2nd Street.

March 10:

Edward Melton, 66, Victoria, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Center Avenue. He was released with a required court date.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to update their annual sex offender registration. A completed form was emailed to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Police responded to a complaint involving unruly juveniles harassing others in Wiley Park. The subjects were warned and advised.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on SW 4th Street. The subject was fine.

Police checked on a subject who was reportedly suffering from a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a complaint involving harassing phone calls from a subject living out of state in the 100 block of SW 4th Street.

Police and the fire department responded to a storm related complaint in the 800 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a report of storm-related damage after hearing a loud thud at a residence on NE 5th Street. The officer did not see any damage to the residence.

March 11:

Police spoke with a resident by telephone about a juvenile behavioral issue that was being addressed at a local medical facility.

Police spoke to a subject by telephone about an abandoned vehicle in the 00 block of NE 4th Avenue. The vehicle was red tagged as abandoned and is subject to being impounded.

Police assisted DCFS in the 200 block of NE 6th Street.

March 12:

Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police met a resident at the Galva Police Department for a theft complaint. While speaking to the complainant, the suspect contacted them and returned the item. No police involvement was then needed.

Police and Stark County Medic were dispatched to a medical emergency involving an intoxicated person lying in the roadway in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police assisted a resident with a water leak in the 500 block of SW 3rd Avenue. The Galva Water Department was notified after the officer found a broken water pipe inside the house. It was shut off.

March 13:

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle pulling a trailer without a wheel attached in the 100 block of Market Street. The officer located the subjects and spoke with them.

Police responded to a stolen license plate complaint in the 400 block of East Division Street. The missing plate was entered into LEADS as a stolen item.

Police responded to a complaint involving damage done by a group of juveniles in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 300 block of SE 3rd Avenue.

March 14:

Kristin Spiegel, 33, Galva, was arrested for driving while license was suspended following a traffic stop in the 300 block of Main Street. She was released with a required court date.

Tyler Schafer, 22, Wyoming, was issued a citation for speeding in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street.

March 15:

Heather St Clair, 30, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance following a traffic stop in the 500 block of NE 3rd Avenue. She was released with a required court date.

Police assisted a motorist whose vehicle had broken down in the 200 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a report of a disabled semi-truck in the roadway in the 00 block of Chester Street. Upon the officer’s arrival, the semi was able to drive away.
