Police assisted a resident who had accidentally locked their keys inside a vehicle with a small child. The officer contacted Tarleton’s Service for help as the child did not appear to be in any distress. They were able to unlock the door.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 00 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle that was not able to maintain its own lane at the east edge of town. The officer was not able to locate it.

Police responded to a juvenile runaway complaint in the 1000 block of NW 7th Avenue. The officer located the child, who did not want to return home. A crisis intervention worker came to the Police Department and spoke to the child and parent.

March 18:

While patrolling, police checked on a subject walking during the night in the 400 block of SW 3rd Avenue. The subject advised they were walking home after falling asleep at a friend’s house.

Police responded to a verbal disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police and fire departments responded to an activated smoke alarm in the 900 block of West Division Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police met with a subject to retrieve items from an impounded car at the city impound lot.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a lawnmower driving on the roadway late at night in the 600 block of SW 1st Avenue. The officer did not locate the driver or lawnmower.

March 19:

Police spoke to a resident about large items being put out for trash in the 500 block of SW 2nd Avenue. They were informed to purchase a large item sticker and contact Eagle Enterprises.

Police assisted a transient who needed lodging in the 200 block of NE 1st Street.

Police assisted Henry County with a single-vehicle accident several miles north of town.

March 20:

Police were notified of a crossing arm malfunction at the SW 6th Avenue crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police checked on a suspicious person in the 300 block of Front Street. The subject was determined to be a transient waiting for a ride.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police assisted a transient by providing a ride to the subject to a location several miles west of town.

March 21:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was determined to be suffering from a mental health crisis.

Police responded to a gas drive-off complaint in the 100 block of Market Street.

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject on NE 7th Street. The offender was served with a written banning letter.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up at Sentry Estates. The officer determined the subject was setting up a medical alert necklace and did not have an emergency.

Police responded to a complaint about a dead raccoon in the roadway at the intersection of NW 2nd Avenue and NW 2nd Street. The animal was removed by the street department.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police were notified about a deceased deer that was lying on the roadway about two miles south of the Galva cemetery. The animal was removed.

Police responded to a complaint involving several juveniles knocking on random doors and then running away in the 600 block of NW 1st Street. The officer was not able to locate the juveniles.

March 22:

Police responded to an activated fire alarm in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police watched for a reckless driver at the east edge of town who was reportedly traveling towards Galva. The officer was not able to locate the vehicle.

Leighland Overfield, 19, Rock Island, was issued a citation for speeding in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street.

March 23:

While patrolling, police saw an opened garage door on SW 2nd Avenue. Nobody was found in the area, so the door was closed.

Police responded to a civil standby to exchange personal property in the 400 block of North Center Avenue.

Two dogs were reported to be running loose in Wiley Park. Police responded and also located the animal owners, who were out looking for the dogs. They were returned to their owners.

Police assisted a motorist who locked their keys inside the vehicle in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. Henry County also responded and was able to unlock the door.

Police assisted a citizen who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle traveling over 100 mph at the west edge of town. The officer located the vehicle, but the complaint was unfounded.
