Macio Yerger, 39, Chicago, was issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street.

July 22:

Police responded to an attempted burglary complaint in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police spoke with a subject from Dixon about a child custody dispute with a Galva resident.

Police responded to a found cell phone in the 500 block of SW 6th Avenue and returned it to its owner.

Police responded to an open 9-1-1 call in the 00 block of NW 8th Avenue. The officer was not able to locate anyone who needed assistance.

Police and the fire department responded to an activated smoke detector in the 600 block of NW 7th Street. No fire was found.

Police removed a broken hood from a riding lawn mower that was obstructing the roadway in the 100 block of Market Street.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a juvenile driving recklessly on an electric bike in the 200 block of Exchange Street. The officer was not able to locate the subject.

July 23

Police assisted Henry County with a physical domestic disturbance at a residence NE of town.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up at the Galva Park District. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Police responded to a complaint involving counterfeit US currency in the 200 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

Police recovered a knife that appeared to have been dropped or lost in the 200 block of NW 4th Avenue. It was in poor condition and was disposed of.

Police responded to a harassment complaint in the 00 block of NE 4th Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 200 block of SE 8th Avenue. The officer checked the area and was not able to locate anyone who needed assistance.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 00 block of NE 4th Avenue.

Police responded to an iPhone crash detection alert on Route 17 south of Galva. The officer was not able to locate anyone who needed assistance.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 600 block of NW 7th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

July 24:

Police responded to a city ordinance violation involving tall grass/weeds in the 300 block of SW 4th Avenue.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to pick up a copy of a recent crash report.

Police conducted a low-speed vehicle inspection in the 400 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Police conducted a welfare check on children at a residence on SW 8th Avenue. They were fine.

Police checked on the welfare of a motorist who was pulled over on Route 34 east of town.

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 300 block of Front Street.

Police responded to a request to watch for a reckless driver at the east edge of Galva. The officer was not able to locate the driver.

July 25:

Police responded to a city ordinance violation involving burning on a non-burn day in the 500 block of SE 4th Street. A fire had reignited from the previous day.

Kole Wilmot, 24, Rio, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Division Street. He was released with a required court date.

Robert Follis, 68, Galva, was issued a citation for disobeying an activated railroad signal at the NE 6th Avenue railroad crossing.

July 26:

Police removed several tree branches from the roadway that appeared to have fallen from a passing vehicle in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

Police watched for a reckless driver coming towards Galva from the west edge of town. The officer located the vehicle but did not observe any violations to warrant a traffic stop.

Police responded to a fireworks/loud noise complaint in the 400 block of SE 3rd Street. The officer could not locate the source.

July 27:

Police responded to a child custody dispute in the 300 block of Front Street.

While patrolling, police observed a resident blowing grass clippings into the roadway in the 100 block of NE 9th Street. They were told to clean up the roadway.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance between father and son in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street.
