Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to return a license plate that had been found a few days earlier.

Police responded to a request to check for a sinkhole in the roadway at West Division Street and SW 10th Avenue. The officer placed barricades over a low area.

Police checked on an abandoned vehicle along the roadway on Route 34 just east of town. The officer placed a 72 hour tow tag on the vehicle.

Police, along with Stark County Medic and the fire department, were dispatched to a medical emergency involving a subject not breathing at a residence on SW 7th Street.

Jan. 6:

Police spoke to a subject by telephone about a civil property dispute.

Police spoke to a subject by telephone to take a report of a violation of an order of protection. A report was forwarded to the State Attorney’s office for consideration of charges.

Police assisted Henry County with a motorist assist on Route 34 east of town.

Police observed a train that stopped and blocked every Galva crossing for nearly an hour. BNSF was contacted and is investigating the reason for the lengthy stop.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Jan. 7:

Police responded to a report of a semi tractor/trailer that had driven off the roadway and was parked in a yard in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue. Several co-workers were able to get the vehicle back onto the roadway, and arrangements were made with property owners to repair the yards.

Patrick Hammons, 69, Galva, was arrested for driving while license was suspended and cancelled, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 100 block of SE 6th Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 600 block of NE 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a report of two vehicles that appeared to have been involved in a road rage incident at the north edge of town. The officer was unable to locate the vehicles.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Amanda Vest, 47, Oneida, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 100 block of Main Street.

Jan. 8:

Police responded to an attempted phone scam complaint in the 300 block of SE 6th Street.

Police assisted a citizen with a delivery that was dropped off at the wrong residence in the 300 block of NW 2nd Street.

Police recovered a credit card that had been left in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. The owner was contacted, and the card was returned.

Police spoke with a resident about a city ordinance violation involving overweight vehicles on posted roads in the 300 block of NW 4th Avenue.

Police assisted a motorist who had locked their keys inside a car in the 200 block of NW 4th Avenue. Henry County was able to unlock the vehicle.

Police provided a resident with a Freedom of Information Act form at the Galva Police Department.

Jan. 9:

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Police responded to a landlord/tenant dispute in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police responded to a theft complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street.

Police assisted a citizen in the 400 block of SE 1st Street.

Police assisted Knox and Henry County with a vehicle pursuit that came into Galva from the west. Several subjects ran on foot from the vehicle, and all were caught and arrested. The arrestees were all taken to Knox County.

Police assisted an elderly citizen having phone issues in the 100 block of NW 4th Street.

Jan. 10:

Police removed an unwanted subject in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police responded to a dog bite report in the 200 block of SE 4th Street. The dog bit its owner and was found to be up to date on its shots.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 700 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be a medical call. Stark County Medic was paged to respond.

Jan. 11:

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to drop off a Freedom of Information Act request form.

Police assisted Knox County with a traffic stop on the south edge of town.

Police assisted Henry County with a single vehicle accident with injuries on South County Road just east of town.
