Jan. 19:

Police responded to an animal neglect complaint in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The complaint was unfounded.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to update their yearly sex offender registration. A completed form was sent to Henry County for entry into LEADS.

Madelin DeJesus, 50, Galva, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a BAC over .08%, unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis in an unauthorized container and speeding following a reckless driving complaint at the east edge of town. She was taken to the Galva Police Department for processing and later released with a required Henry County court date.

Police responded to an animal cruelty complaint in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue.

Jan. 20:

Police were notified of a vehicle repossession in the 200 block of NE 3rd Street.

Police responded to an identity theft complaint in the 200 block of NW 5th Street.

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance involving brothers in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue.

While patrolling, police observed a freight train coming to a stop and blocking several crossings. The officer directed traffic for over an hour, and eventually, it moved along.

Police responded to a criminal damage to property complaint in the 300 block of Swank Street.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on NW 5th Avenue. The subject was fine.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line in the 100 block of NE 4th Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Jan. 21:

Police were flagged down about a garbage truck that had fallen through the roadway in the 400 block of NE 1st Street. The Galva Water Department placed barricades in the affected area.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up in the 600 block of NW 1st Avenue. It was determined to be a pocket dial.

Shannon Ray, 43, Galva, was arrested for driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of SW 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to an attempted burglary from a vehicle in the 00 block of NE 8th Street. The case remains under investigation.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to discuss child visitation concerns.

Police assisted Stark County Medic after a subject accidentally took too much medication at a residence on SW 2nd Street.

Jan. 22:

Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of SW 1st Avenue.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to discuss a neighbor’s aggressive dog.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue.

Police met with a subject at the Galva Police Department to fingerprint them for a potential job opportunity.

A 14-year-old Galva juvenile was issued a juvenile referral for a burglary to a motor vehicle and criminal trespass to property complaint received the prior day, following a meeting with the juvenile and a parent. The juvenile was then released.

Police assisted Henry County with a death notification on SW 3rd Street.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Jan. 23:

Police assisted Henry County with an activated burglar alarm west of town.

While patrolling, police noticed a train had stopped and was blocking several crossings. BNSF was contacted, and the train eventually moved along.

Police, along with Stark County Medic, responded to a report of two suicidal subjects at a residence on NW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a utility complaint in the 00 block of NW 4th Street. The water line had frozen and burst. The Galva Water Dept. was contacted and was able to shut the water off to the residence.

Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 300 block of SE 1st Avenue. The resident was advised to turn down the volume.

Jan. 24:

Police assisted a subject who had run out of gas and had a dead battery in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.

Police responded to a residential burglary complaint in the 100 block of NW 7th Avenue. The situation remains under investigation.

Jan. 25:

Police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the 1200 block of NW 3rd Avenue. The suspect was gone upon the officer’s arrival.

Police responded to an aggressive dog complaint in the 600 block of NW 7th Street.

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.
